What is Axis Network Associate Membership?

The Axis Network Associate membership is about supporting artists. Through affiliation you become part of one of the UK’s largest artist networks and are able to access a range of benefits including insurance.

Is there a criteria for Axis Network Associate Membership?

Yes, affiliate membership is for artists and creatives.

What kind of artist do you accept for Axis Network Associate Membership

Artists are always blurring boundaries and as such we aim to be open in our definition. Our membership includes artists whose practice and activities range from object makers, to practice based research, to studio practice, to performance to participatory.

Do you have to be based in the UK for Axis Network Associate Membership?

No, but for the insurance cover you need to be based in the UK or have a permanent UK address.

What does the insurance cover?

It covers a broad definition of activities including: events, commissions, working with people, public art, performances, education, projects, project management, studio practice.

Public and Product Liability

  • Limit: £10 million
  • Excess: £250
  • Geographical limit: European Union

Professional Indemnity

  • Limit: £5 million
  • Excess: £250
  • Geographical limit: Worldwide (excluding USA and Canada)

How much does Axis Network Associate Membership cost?

The cost is £2.50 per month or £25 per year

Do I get a profile on Axis as part of Axis Network Associate Membership?

No. If you are interested in having a profile on Axisweb see Axis Directory Membership.

Can I access Opportunities as part of Axis Network Associate Membership?

No. If you want to access opportunities then you can add Opportunity Finder to your membership.

Is there a minimum term for signing up to Network Associate membership?

There is no minimum term so you can cancel your membership at any time. If you've set up a Direct Debit to pay for your membership and then cancel this, your membership will remain valid until your next renewal date. Payments by credit or debit cards are not recurring so your membership remains valid until your next renewal date.

What is Public and Product liability insurance?

Our Public and Product liability insurance offers protection for you against injuries to members of the public, clients or contractors as a result of your artistic activities. It can cover compensation payments and legal costs if a member of the public (maybe a visitor to your exhibition or studio) sues you because they've been injured or their property has been damaged.

What is Professional Indemnity insurance?

Professional indemnity insurance can help protect Artists and Art Professionals who have clients and if a client claims that there is a problem with the work you’ve done for them.

It can offer cover if you need to pay compensation to correct a mistake or settle a claim, and can also cover your legal defence costs.

Does your insurance cover damage to my artworks or theft of my artworks?

Unfortunately our insurance does not currently cover damage or theft of artworks but it's something we may add to the insurance at a later date. You'll have to contact another insurance provider such as Hiscox, to arrange separate cover.

Does your insurance include employers’ liability insurance?

No it does not cover anyone who works for you, they would have to take out their own cover.

How do I get my insurance documentation?

Once you’ve signed up to Network Associate membership and paid your subscription you’ll receive all of the documentation in your confirmation email.

Can we get your insurance as an organisation or group of artists?

Our insurance is based on an individual artist but we can cover groups of artists who work collaboratively and produce work together. We do not cover organisations or businesses at this time.
